General Meeting - April 1, 2009
The April 1st, 2009 General Membership Meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by President Keith Thorson. Other members present were Ted Bechtel, Dennis and Terry Trimble, Jim Nakata, J.O. Raff and Robert Holland.

The March Secretary's Minutes were approved as printed in the Trans Script except for and error indicating our Picnic/Potluck would be held May 11th. The correct date is April 18th as shown in the Upcoming Events.

J.O. Raff presented the March, 2009 Treasurer's Report which was approved as read.

Old Business: Past Events;

Activity Director Terry Trimble reported that the St. Patrick's Day Lunch at Red Hawk Casino was good despite the intermittent rain. As reported in the March TransScript, Sarah Skeels accompanied us and is expected to join the Club. No one complained about any large losses. The Champaign Brunch was good, although slightly expensive and no one was observed drinking Champaign.

New Business: Upcoming Events;

The Picnic/Potluck will be at 12 Noon on April 18th. The location will be Freedom Park, within McClellan Business Park. We will treat the event like a Picnic except bring your own drinks, meat for BBQ and a Side Dish. (A thru M, Desserts; N thru Z, Salads). J.O. will bring a gas BBQ that should be adequate for everyone to cook their meat. J.O. will scout the location. (See Upcoming Events).

Miramont Estate Vineyards is still scheduled for June 20th. Terry will obtain more information and we will discuss the trip during our June meeting.

The March Edition of the Association of California Car Clubs, Inc. newsletter "deFENDER" is full of motor vehicle related bills. It seems like the Assembly has nothing to do but target vehicles for everything from Air Pollution to nuisance abatement to speed contests to Meetings of the Legislature to registration and title info. Assemblyman Dave Jones has reintroduced AB859 which addresses Smog Check: Annual Inspection: Repair Assistance Program. It would require annual inspection of motor vehicles that are models which are 15 years old or greater to be inspected annually and the funds generated to be deposited into the High Polluter Repair or Removal Account. This bill contains other related provisions and other existing laws. Many of the bills were heard in Committee during March. The ACCC 23rd Annual Legislative Conference will be held at the Towe Automobile Museum May 5, 6, 7, 8, 2009.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:02 PM after a motion by Ted Bechtel and 2nd by Terry Trimble.

Club Meetings will be held at Denny's Restaurant, 3520 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of each month. Anyone with an interest in the Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am, Formula or Firehawk is welcome to attend.
