for the entire month of April, 2005, at the Towe Auto
Museum. Further information will be provided at the
February and March, 2005 meetings.
Dave also discussed the all Pontiac movie, "Last Ride",
an excellent story about a '69 GTO Judge and recommended
it highly.
Dave reported on the May ACCC Meeting. "Assembly Bill
2683, sponsored by Sally Leiber, a Democrat from Mountain
View, would repeal the current law that exempts vehicles
30 year or older from the current Smog Check program
and would require permanent testing
for all 1976 and newer model vehicles. The bill has
passed out of the Assembly, moved to the Senate and
passed out of the Transportation Committee. On August
2, the Appropriations Committee hearing is the final
policy hearing the bill would see before it heads to
the Senate floor for a vote. If it passes there, the
Governor would have 30 days to sign the bill into law,
veto it, or do nothing, at which time it will automatically
become law. The Senate has until August 31st to bring
this bill up for a vote". It is
important for us to call our legislators and voice our
opposition to this legislation. The legislation,
supported by the ACCC, "which identifies the definition
of collector motorized vehicles, was signed into law
by Governor Schwarzenegger on July 7". Now a definition
of criteria that will be used to define what a collector
motorized vehicle needs to be created. Keith
reported that Transarama is still being planned and
he will be checking with Reno Casinos. He needs help
making contacts. Terry will be checking with the Hilton
when she is at Hot August Nights .
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM. Moved by Frank
Brown and seconded by Dave Gershon.
Respectfully submitted - Irene Raff - Secretary.
