2004, Volume 7, Issue 1
General
Meeting-January 6th, 2004
The meeting was called to order by Sgt. At Arms, Jaime
Perez and President, Keith Thorson was introduced at
7:05pm.
Guests:
Todd Geoney of Yuba City. Ted drives a GTO. That's okay
Todd, GTO's are great too.
Frank made the motion to accept
the December minutes as printed in the News Letter,
seconded by Dennis Trimble. Motion carried.
J.O. gave the treasurer's report.
Old
Business: Past Events;
The Christmas Party was held at the Rusty Duck in Sacramento.
The food was very good. The "Gift Exchange"
went well, lots of steals. We had some very nice gifts
this year. The bubble gum machine was a hit. The model
cars and the Brandy went the full three steals'.
We had reservations for 29 and only 28 attended, however,
we were very crowded. The chairs were very close together
and it didn't leave much elbow room.
Old
Business: Activities:
Terry mentioned she had looked into the indoor cart
racing in Rancho Cordova. They require at least eight
or more people to participate. Cost is $38 for 50 laps.
For the cost most of the Club members passed on this
one.
On January 17th there will be a run to Jackson Rancheria
or Thunder Valley. Meet at Levitz parking lot on Watt
Ave. at 9:30am and leave at 10am. If the weather is
nice the trip to Jackson will be a fun run. If not Thunder
Valley will be the target.
Terry has two events set for February. On February 1st
the Super Bowl Party will be held at the Straw Hat Pizza
Parlor on Mather Field Road. Arrival time will be 1pm.
It is just south of Folsom Blvd. in Rancho Cordova.
The light rail station is right across the street.
Dennis reported on Auto Rama. This event is set for
February the 6th to the 8th. Set up for Club cars is
on Wednesday the 4th. For further information call Dennis
at (916) 363 - 6650. Volunteers are needed for set up
and to man the booth.
Valentine's Day Brunch will be on February 15th, at
the El Torito Restaurant at 1212 Arden Way. The selection
isn't as lavish as we have had before but the price
is right. They do have a nice buffet with bacon, sausage,
eggs etc. They also have a kids price. Cost is: Adults
$12.99, Kids 12 and under $4.99 plus about 26% tax and
tip.
There was a discussion on the subject of Trans A Rama.
Terry said they have had some E-mails regarding this
event. Dennis said if we have it he would like to see
us move it to May instead of July because of the heat.
He would just have the Friday Night Cruise and the Saturday
Car Show. This is a major event and takes a lot time
and money. T-Shirts and trophies are very expensive.
In place of Trans A Rama it was suggested that we have
a "Show 'N Shine" at a park or possibly in
a hotel parking lot as we did several years ago. This
would give our Club great exposure and would not be
very expensive.
Terry would like to see us attend the Thunder Bolts
car show in Rio Linda this year. Some of our people
attended this event a couple of years ago and they said
it was well worth the time.
The Club is looking for another, hopefully much quieter,
place to meet. J. O. and Irene checked into the Hoffbrau
at the corner of Watt and El Camino. They have a very
large back room completely separate of the dinning area.
They wonÕt charge for the room if we can come up with
$100 in food. The first Tuesday of the month is doubtful
as they have had someone else booked for it in past
years. The lady we talked to said she had not heard
from that organization as yet and wasn't sure they would
be back. We need to check in a couple of days.
We also checked with the Golden "T". It also
has two back rooms that would be suitable. They also
want a minimum food orders, meals run from $10 to $15.
Either of these rooms would also be available for our
Christmas Party.
Dave Gershon has bought another '89 White Anniversary
Trans Am. It is one of 15 with 4,600 miles on it. He
is now selling his other '89. Information was in the
November 2003 TransScript and on E-Bay.
Terry wanted to continue with the phone committee and
the assignments for that are: Allen, pg. 1; Keith, pg.
2; Carmen, pg 3; Terry pg. 4; Irene pg 5 and the few
on pg 6.
With no further business Dennis made the motion to adjourn,
seconded by Frank. Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
Respectfully submitted - Irene Raff, Secretary.
