June 2004, Volume 7, Issue 6

General Meeting - June 1st, 2004

The meeting was called to order by President Keith Thorson at 7:13pm.

There were no guests to be introduced.

Dennis Trimble made a motion to accept the minutes for May as printed in the Trans Script, seconded by Frank Brown. Motion carried.

Old Business:
Terry reported on the runs for this month.

Virginia City, May 8th:
Leo, Keith, Eric and Terry made the run. (This was in place of the Filoli Gardens in Woodside). A good time was had by those who made the run, however, Leo got lost.

Towe Musuem, May16th:
Seems we are stuck on having "three car participation" events. Eric, Keith and Terry attended.

Drag Night, May19th:
Terrible showing for our Club. Only members attending were Gordon, Terry and Dennis. Another Drag Nite is set for June 16th. Hopefully there will be more participants.

Thunder in the Park, May 29th:
This event was held in Rio Linda. Another three cars participated, Leo, Keith and Theo. This event was not as large as it has been in the past. Probably because there was very little advertising. They held a very nice area for our Club because they were expecting several cars. Rich Mishler, a long time ago member of our Club was there. It's always nice to see some of the past members.

Memorial Day Paradde, May31st:
This was a great showing for our Club. We really did ourselves proud. We had fourteen cars, all wiped down and shining. The crowd really responded to us. Our banner was carried by Steven and Maddie who belong to Diana and they really did a good job. They lasted past the reviewing stand and around the corner for about a half a block before pooping out. The banner and pole are pretty heavy.

Two of our cars belonged to our newest-to-be members. Kelly and Johnny O'Brian have two 30th anniversary cars, white with the blue stripes. One is a convertible and the other a T-top. Our other new members are Dale and Jennyfer Childs. They have a red 1974 Firebird Esprit. We welcome our new members to the longest running Trans Am Club in California and probably in the U.S. (Had to get that plug in there.)

Terry said she had received a thank you from Sacramento Autorama. They said the car clubs are the backbone and foundation of this event. There were twenty-five car clubs displaying 224 vehicles. We have been invited to return next year. We really need to get our entry in early.

We haven't heard anything about the "Fulton Car Fest" that is held each year. We will be checking on this one .

New Business:
The Cattlebaron's Cafe has been reserved for our Christmas Party on December 11th. More info at the next meeting

A complete list of all events to come are always listed on page 5 under "Upcoming Events", with all pertinent information.

The "Phone Committee" was asked to make sure the members on the pages assigned to them are called regarding the next scheduled event! Leo said he has been getting E-Mails from Keith about the next event on the schedule. He thanked Keith and said that was another very good "Heads Up" to our members.

Leo said he talked to Don, who owns Jim Boy's Tacos in Loomis, regarding an all Trans Am car show. He said he wants a commitment of 45 TA.s. It was suggested that the Capitol City Firebird Club might be interested in joining us for such an event. Leo said he would contact them and see if they would like to do that. Don will supply the trophies, band, and set up the area for such a show. No entry fee!

J.O. mentioned that Keith had paid $100 for the Club's Towe Ford Museum membership. We need to reimburse Keith! .

With no further business, Frank made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Theo. The meeting was adjourned at 8.23 pm.

Respectfully submitted - Irene Raff - secretary.

Editors apologies to NEW MEMBERS Jeff Brunton and Susan Bentley and Eric and Anita Melson for not recognizing them in previous editions of the TransScript. (J.O.)
