June 2008, Volume 11, Issue 6

General Meeting - June 4, 2008

Due to the absence of President, Treasurer and Secretary, Ted Bechtel is doing Everything! The June 2008 meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Vice President Ted Bechtel.

Introduction of Guests: Robert Holland's Mother Ethel, came to the meeting. She is visiting from Mississippi.

Corrections to the Newsletter were reported by J.O. Raff by email.

In the Events Column, for the June 4th meeting, J.O. did not correct the meeting place to Denny’s Restaurant from Thunder Valley.

The Newsletter was then approved as corrected. Due to the absence of Treasurer, J.O. Raff, Ted Bechtel presented the Treasurer’s Report which was approved as read.

Old Business: Past Events;

The Thunder in Depot Park car show in Rio Linda was rained on but not rained out. Robert Holland, Fay Fong, Dennis & Terry Trimble and Keith Thorson attended. J.O. Raff made it as far as the meeting point at Levitz Parking Lot but had to drop out due to a dead battery. There were 150-200 cars on display and there were excellent door prizes. Dennis won a $25.00 Summit Gift Card and Terry won an Ice Chest with wheels

New Business: Upcoming Events;

Keith has arranged a cooperative Club Show & Shine with the Camaro Club to be held September 13th, 2008 at California Burgers, however, Frank says that Michelle will be having her 50th Birthday Party that date so we may change the date for the Show and Shine to the 20th. There will be no Raffle Prizes, only a 50/50 raffle.

Our Christmas Party at The Hungry Hunter is now up in the air since they have gone out of business. Keith Thorson has checked with The Rusty Duck and they can accommodate us.

Terry Trimble will be out of town in during Hot August Nights.

Robert Holland has been passing out flyers for the Wednesday Night Drags on July 23rd.

June 19th, we will have a Fuddruckers Run. We will caravan from the old Levitz Parking Lot in North Highlands and depart at 6:00 PM sharp.

At 7:40 PM, Frank Brown moved to adjourn and Robert Holland seconded.

Keith Thorson, J.O. and Irene Raff arrived after the meeting to admire the paint job on Randy Duval’s 1979 T/A.

Respectfully Submitted: Ted Bechtel, Vice President and Chief Cook and Bottle Washer for this meeting

ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA CAR CLUBS, INC. CONFERENCE

The Association of California Car Clubs held it’s conference in Sacramento at the Towe Museum, May 6 thru May 9, 2008.

Vice Pres. Ted Bechtel and Treas. J.O. Raff attended the proceedings on May 7th.
What better way to kick-off the Conference than for the ACCC to hold a car show at the West side of the State Capitol Building on May 6.

They got down to business at the bright and early Wednesday, May 7th at and after a tour of the Towe Museum. ACCC President Fred Evenson presided. Other members of the ACCC Board of Directors were introduced as well as Senator Dennis Hollingsworth of the 36th District in San Diego; Mr. Joe Farrow, Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol; Amy Brown, ACCC Lobbyist; Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, 66th District, Lake Ellsinore, Mr. Dennis Clear of the Department of Motor Vehicles, Mr. Alan Coppage of the Bureau of Automotive Repair and Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa of the 2nd District. Each dignitary spoke concerning their areas of expertise.

Thursday, May 8th was more of the same but with other dignitaries. The one that I missed hearing was Mr. Greg Vlasek, Legislative Representative, Air Resources Board.

The Conference ended on Friday, May 9th with a tour of the CHP Academy.

J.O. Raff, Treasurer.
