be fine for both winter and summer. Cost is $55.95 plus
tax. Keith will have his basic jacket at the next meeting.
With no further business Dennis moved to adjourn the
meeting and Gary seconded.
Meeting closed at 8:10pm .
Respectfully submitted - Irene Raff - Secretary.
VALENTINE'S
DAY BRUNCH by Leo Brown.
I'm in the mood for lovin.. Oh, excuse me. The Valentine's
Brunch at Cash Creek Casino. We all met at the Levitz
parking lot and we had a total of eight (count them)
TA's, Two SUV's and one truck. What a combination, but
more importantly, what a showing! As we head down the
freeway, I can hear Gary saying "Did you check out the
place first?" Like I said before. "No comment". Anyway,
as we were approaching Woodland, J.O. decided to go
solo. For whatever reason, maybe it was because Irene
wasn't there to guide him (J.O. can't see well), he
did it his way and kept to the highway as we exited
off the Freeway. The next thing I heard over the two-way
radio was we needed to stop for a potty break. Well,
I thought to myself , Ted and Miren's kids are potty
trained. Allen and Julie have Winnie in diapers and
Gary and Gayle has Trevor in diapers. And that's when
it hit me. Dennis must of forget his Depends or at least,
put them on. That was the longest potty break ever.
We continued on our journey as I led the pack. I was
getting my directions from Map Quest. We came to a point
where my co-pilot was telling me to make a right turn
according to Map. Someone (I think it was Ted) said
we should go straight. Well, I learned to never question
what your navigator says (Sue), so we turned right.
Thank God Gayle who has a Grandma that lived or used
to live in Woodland who confirmed we made the correct
turn. Well, thinking everything was okay, I noticed
we were approaching something that looked like a freeway
overpass. Sure enough, it was and the funny thing about
it, it was the same freeway we got off of earlier. So
we went down a little bit and did this wonderful u-turn.
It was nice to see TA's coming toward you. Remind me
to thank Gayle's Grandma later. So here we are, going
down this desolate road and Nikki decides she wants
to have fun… You do remember how to do this, right?
She decided to do the "snake". For those who don't know
what this is, oh well. You should have been there. For
those who were toward the end of the caravan, that's
when you go to the left and to the right, back and forth
slivering like a snake. Someone failed to tell Nikki
when doing this, you must stay within the lines. Half
of the oncoming traffic pulled over to get out of her
way! Anyway as we approached Cash Creek Casino, I get
a call from a mystery man wanting to know where we are.
Remember when J.O. decided to fly solo? Well, it was
him and as we were speaking, I could see a shinny spot
up the hill. As we got closer, that shinny spot took
on the figure of a man. That man now became J.O.! What
little bit of sun that appeared was reflecting off his
head which became a beacon to bring in all the cars!
Thanks J.O.! I knew there was a reason for you going
ahead of the pack. We all sat together and had a wonderful
lunch. Some stayed afterwards to gamble and the rest
went their separate ways. Thanks to Allen and Julie,
Frank and Michelle, Ted and Miren, Gary and Gayle, Jim,
Dennis and terry, Ted and Aaron, Nikki and Chris, J.O.,
Leo and Susan and any family members for making this
a successful and memorable Valentine's. Well this is
Leo Brown Signing off until next time.
PAST
EVENTS by Leo Brown: Super Bowl XXXVII.
Super Bowl XXXVII and what a game... Everyone at the
Super Bowl party (Straw Hat Pizza) were more interested
in the money pool than the actual game. It was the Patriots
vs. the Eagles and I think it was the Patriots who won.
Anyways, Allen came up with a cool idea that maybe it
would be nice that we caravan to Straw Hat Pizza. This
information was given out at the last meeting. We also
switched locations due to the banjo folks being there
during the Super Bowl. If you attended the last meeting,
you would of gotten all the 411 (information for those
who are still in the stone age (J.O.). Back to the story
at hand, we had a total of two cars (yes, you read correctly).
Julie and Allen's TA and mine. We make it to Straw Hat
and waited for others to show. We had a total of six
T/A's and approx. 20 people who showed up for the festivities.
You could tell how excited Dennis was about the game.
Seems how he spent most of his time building a model.
Terry showed up later to join him. Frank, Michelle and
family were also there supporting this event. Gary and
Gayle, along with Trevor was there and all Gary could
say is "Did you check out the place first?" "No comment".
Then there's J.J. Or should I say "The Hawk". I think
he spent more time watching me than the game. Just because
I was running the money pool doesn't mean I would violate
the insider trading laws! You all know what happened
to Martha Stuart. Julie and Allen kept busy with Winnie.
Now what was up with Keith, Theo and Aaron? They thought
they were the cute guys of the bunch trying to pick
up on all the ladies at the pizza joint. Did they not
know that most of them were grandmothers or nuns? Well,
I won't tell if you won't. The good thing was the Club
picked up the drinks tab although some of you there
bought your own. Did you forget what was discussed at
the meeting or were you like most of us, ignoring what
Keith (our fearless leader) was saying. I want to personally
thank all those who took time to show up to this event.
I realize it wasn't the best Super Bowl happening but
you did take the time to support the Club by your presence.
For those who didn't make it, we'll talk later. I also
would like to thank Jim for participating as well. Thanks
for all those who participated in the money pool. If
it wasn't for all of you, I wouldn't be $12.50 richer.
Speaking about money, the winners are as follows: 1st
qtr.- Aaron, 2nd qtr.- J.J., 3rd qtr.- Frank and 4th,
me. Well, this Leo Brown signing off until the next
event.
