General Meeting - May 6, 2009

The May 6th, 2009 General Membership Meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by President Keith Thorson. Other members present were Ted Bechtel, Jim Nakata, J.O. & Irene Raff, Frank Brown and Robert Holland. Rick Byrd, owner of a red, 1968 Firebird Convertible was present for our meeting and expressed some interest in joining.

The April Secretary’s Minutes were approved as printed in the Trans Script.

An error in the Upcoming Events was noted. The Visit to Miramont Estate Vineyards should have shown June 27th instead of June 20th.

The Treasurer’s Report was approved as read by Treas. J.O. Raff.

Old Business: Past Events;

In the absence of Terry Trimble, our Activities Chairperson, Keith Thorson discussed our Picnic/Potluck of April 18th. There was a good turn-out with 8 members plus children attending. J.O. dampened the whole affair by being somewhat ill the whole time and his grill threatened to run out of Propane while Terry was cooking London Broil. Keith informed us that more table covers are being installed at Freedom Park.

New Business: Upcoming Events;

Thunder in Depot Park is scheduled for May 23rd and Bowling and Lunch is scheduled for May 30th. (See Upcoming Events).

It was mentioned that State Fair called Keith concerning a display and he will research our possible participation.

It is time to renew our $100.00 Towe membership. It was recommended that members contribute as they are able and the Club will pick up the balance.

The Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce is promoting The 16th annual Hot Chili & Cool Cars show September 19th. The Car Show is for 1973 and older vehicles but there is a street faire with entertainment, activities and fun for the entire family—plus a chili contest.

The Cru-Zin in the Vineyard Classic Cars & Hot Rod show at Terra d’Oro Winery was discussed as well. Both will be on the Upcoming Activities list but will not be sanctioned Club activities.

Rick Byrd invited the Club to the Camaro Club Hosted Show, September 27th at Elk Grove Park, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 PM after a motion by Frank Brown and 2nd by Jim Nakata.

Club Meetings will be held at Denny's Restaurant, 3520 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of each month. Anyone with an interest in the Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am, Formula or Firehawk is welcome to attend.

Saturday, May 30th, 11:00 AM. Meet at Crestview Lanes, 4450 Manzanita Ave., Carmichael, CA, at 10:45 AM or so. We have 2 lanes reserved. After bowling, we will proceed to Woody’s Grill & Bar, 2316 Watt Ave., Sacramento, for lunch.
