November
2004, Volume 7, Issue 11
General
Meeting - November 2nd, 2004
The meeting was called to order by President, Keith
Thorson at 7:20pm. The motion to accept the minutes
of the last meeting as printed in the News Letter was
made by Ted and seconded by Jim. Motion was carried.
Old
Business:
The Hot Rod Party was a 'no show', consequently
nothing to report .
Apple
Hill - 10/23/04:
Three cars made the trip. This was a very light turn
out for this run. The weather probably had something
to do with it as it was raining and very cold. Those
who made the run were, Dennis and Terry Trimble, Keith
Thorson, Ted, Steven, and the Iriarte's. A good time
was had at High Hill Ranch. The coffee was hot and the
pie was good.
Kragen
4th Annual Toys For Tots - 10/30/04:
Keith, Tony, Dave, Dennis and Terry attended this fun
show. It is an open event for anyone who wants to show
a car. There were around 40 to 50 cars showing.
New
Business:
Terry reported that "Hot August Nights"
would be this coming weekend. She was leaving early
and would be in the Sparks area primarily.
Museum Tree Decorating Party and Pot Luck - 11/28/04:
Meet at the museum at 2:00P.M. The Club would like to
purchase a seven foot tree to decorate. We are to bring
food for eight to ten people - main course, desserts
or side dish. (One or the other). The decorations should
include pictures of our cars in small frames.
Christmas
Party - 12/11/04:
The December Business Meeting, Installation of Officers
and Christmas Party will be at Cattlebaron's in Penryn.
The Club will supplement the expenses for the dinner
@ $5.00 per paid Club Member. See the article elsewhere
in the Transcript.
Auto
Rama - 2/4-6/05:
Hopefully we can get slots for 20 cars this year. As
of now we have eleven cars committed. If anyone is interested
in showing their car please call Keith at (916) 991-7304.
Theo reported that we have more than exceeded the cost
of our Trans Am mugs. They are now 'ON SALE'
for $9.98 each, two for $17.98.
The Message
Board is up and ready for use. Jim, Dave and Ted
will be monitoring to be sure it is running properly
and "being used" by our Club members.
Our new Activities Director, Leo Brown, has asked for
help with suggestions for runs for the year 2005. If
you have an event you think might be fun please let
him know. You can reach him at (916) 684-4300.
The Veterans Day Parade will be on Saturday, November
the 13th. Meet at Levitz at 8:30am and leave at 9am.
The big P.O.C.I. Event for the year 2005 will be held
in Madera, California. The dates will be September 30
through October 2nd. An announcement was made regarding
Eric Melson's resignation from the Club because his
car was in an "Indianapolis 500" freeway type accident.
After hitting the wall, there wasn't much of it left
except Insurance Company hassles. If you would like
to see the 'before' picture, take a look at the Member's
Ride of the Month in the October edition of the Trans
Script and also page 5. It's right there! No injuries,
by the way!!!
On October 12th, forty six envelopes were mailed to
Club members, most of them containing two ballots and
a return envelope to the Club. Only 27 of those were
returned. The results of the election are as follows:
President - Keith Thorson; Vice President - Terry Trimble;
Secretary - Irene Raff; Treasurer - J.O. Raff; Activities
Director - Leo Brown. The other officers will be appointed
by the President.
Please remember the Veteran's Day Parade on November
the 13th. We had a great showing in the Memorial Day
Parade and would like to do the same for the Vet's.
I want to thank Keith for taking minutes for me until
I arrived at this meeting. J.O. was working as an Election
Official at a polls and I had so many things going on
that day I almost forgot the meeting. I probably would
have if Theo hadn't given me a call. Thanks to Theo
too.
Respectfully submitted - Irene Raff - Secretary.
DECEMBER
BUSINESS MEETING, INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AND CHRISTMAS
PARTY.
We hope that you have already planned to attend our
Annual Business Meeting, Installation of Officers and
Christmas Party! This year the Cattlebaron's Café at
3129 Penryn Road, Penryn, California, has been reserved
for our event on Saturday,
December 11th. No-host cocktails are planned
from 6:30 to 7:00 PM, Dinner at 7:00 PM and then our
installation activities afterward. Tentatively, our
Banquet will consist of Prime Rib or Halibut at $15.35,
while Steak or Chicken will be $13.50. Banquet dinners
include cheese fondue, French bread, tossed salad, baked
potato, veggies, coffee, ice tea or soda and dessert.
Prices include tax and tip.
Plan on bringing an inexpensive, (approximately $10.00),
wrapped gift for our traditional, (you can steal it
twice-maybe three times), gift exchange.
It has been decided
that the Club will supplement the cost of the dinner
as it has in the past, however, because of the relatively
inexpensive cost, each Paid Club Member will be allowed
$5.00. Since the Club must pay for the number of dinners
ordered, NO SHOWS that make reservations will be expected
to pay.
It will be necessary to confirm our numbers and dinner
choices with Cattlebarron's by the first week in December.
Please call J.O. or Irene Raff at (916) 961-5800 with
your menu selection by December
1st. and mail your checks to the Club P.O. Box.
