2008, Volume 11, Issue 11
General
Meeting - November 5, 2008
The November 5th, 2008 General Membership Meeting of
the Trans Am Club of America, Golden State Chapter,
was called to order by Pres. Keith Thorson at 7:05 PM.
Robert’s Rules of Order were immediately disregarded
as the meeting launched into a discussion of what we
were going to do for our Annual Meeting and Christmas
Party! Since both, the Hungry Hunter and the Rusty Duck,
our choices of location since around February, 2008,
have closed, we were at a loss. In the past, if reservations
weren’t set by February or March for the following
Christmas season, we would have been out of luck. Restaurants
named for consideration were Sheepherder’s Inn,
Brookfield’s, Denny’s, Sizzler, Thunder
Valley, Hometown Buffet, Oriental Buffet and Luau Gardens.
Reservations were made by phone for Oriental Buffet
and Texas BBQ for December 13th. J.O. Raff was assigned
the task of reviewing the facilities available at these
two restaurants and report to the Board of Directors
at Thunder Valley on November 13th.
Club Member apathy was obvious by the seven (7) election
envelopes received, containing a total of thirteen (13)
ballots. The ballots were counted and all current officers:
Keith Thorson, President; Ted Bechtel, Vice President;
Irene Raff, Secretary; J.O. Raff, Treasurer and Terry
Trimble, Activities Director, were elected unanimously.
J.O. Raff moved that the Club be disbanded due to lack
of interest after the Web Site rent expires in 2009.
The motion was not seconded, however, but it was recommended
that the Trans Script, as an expense saving move, become
a quarterly newsletter beginning 1/1/09.
Christmas Tree decoration at the Towe Museum was discussed
and it was decided that we wouldn’t bother with
a tree this year because of the fiasco last year. Our
tree and decorations were mixed up and lost by people
that the Towe used to take the trees down. The Pot Luck
is still on however, and Keith will call to obtain details
for November 29th. (See Upcoming Events).
The October minutes were finally approved as printed
in the Trans Script and the Treasurer’s Report
was given by Treas. J.O. Raff.
Since Frank Brown was absent, we had no motion to adjourn
and the meeting just sort of petered out at approximately
8:10 PM.
Respectfully Submitted: Irene Raff, Secretary.

Am, Formula or Firehawk is welcome to attend.

THUNDER
VALLEY CASINO MEETING - November 13, 2008
President Keith Thorson, Vice-President Ted Bechtel,
Secretary Irene Raff, Treasurer J.O. Raff, Activities
Director Terry Trimble, Sgt. at Arms Dennis Trimble,
Membership Director Robert Holland and Fay Holland,
met at the Thunder Valley Casino Buffet at 6:30 PM on
November 13th to discuss available options for our Annual
Meeting and Christmas Party. J.O. Raff gave his report
concerning the suitability of the Back Forty BBQ, the
Oriental Buffet and also The Station, with supporting
photographs and copies of their menus. In addition,
suggestions were made to consider Black Angus, Rudy’s
Hideaway, Chevy’s Fresh Mex and the Buggy Whip.
Phone reservations were tentatively made at Chevy’s
and the Buggy Whip by Terry. J.O. was assigned to obtain
sample menu’s and check out the Buggy Whip. The
Buggy Whip was booked up except for December 6th and
a reservation was made there for 7:00 PM. It was decided
that because of the state of the Club Treasury, the
Club could not afford to subsidize the cost of the meal
this year as it has in years past. After this discussion
Irene Raff excused herself and went out to ultimately
win over $200 at the Penny Slots!
On November 17th, J.O. visited the Buggy Whip and found
that although not totally private, suitable space was
available in a room adjacent to the front main lobby.
The bar is convenient for those that may desire to use
that facility. A degree of privacy will be provided
by a partition, if necessary. Dinner choices will be
from the Banquet Menu: Sirloin Steak, Teriyaki Chicken
or Salmon, all at $29.99. Tax, tip and room rent are
included in the price. Entrees are served with soup,
green salad and dressings, baked potato, roll &
butter, coffee or tea. Dessert is additional with Ice
Cream at $2.99 and Cheese Cake at $3.99. After a telephone
call to Pres. Keith Thorson and Activities Director
Terry Trimble, the decision was made to go with the
Buggy Whip restaurant. Tentative reservations at the
other locations will be cancelled.

if you desire dessert. We will have our traditional

fortunately or unfortunately, J.O. Raff will be out
of town from 11/21 thru 11/28. Final count and menu
choice must be provided to the Buggy Whip not later
than Wednesday, December 3rd. Your
reservation is a definite commitment to the cost of
