General Meeting - November 4, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:25 PM by Pres. Keith Thorson.

The meeting was attended by Keith, Ted Bechtel, Dennis and Terry Trimble, Frank Brown, J.O. and Irene Raff.

The Secretary's Minutes from the October 7th General Membership Meeting were approved as printed in the TransScript and the Treasurer's Report was approved as read by Treasurer J.O. Raff.

Old Business: Past Events;

The Apple Hill run on October 10th was attended by only two cars, Keith, Matthew and Desire' and Robert and Faye. Even so, it was a fun trip. High Hill Ranch parking lot was crowded although there weren't that many people there. Nine or ten cars of a Corvette Club were there but they didn't know Leo Brown. Other locations were visited besides High Hill Ranch. The Placerville McDonalds was visited on the way home.

The Chili Cook-off on October 17th was discussed (favorably). Chili was provided by Keith, J.O. and Terry. Keith also brought a small pot with a can of Nalley's Jalapeno, which tasted pretty good. All participants will be awarded a $10.00 Chili's Gift Card at a later date because J.O. forgot to bring the awards.

New Business: Upcoming Events;

Bowling will be at Crestview Bowling Center in Carmichael on Sunday, Nov. 15th. Irene plans to obtain free game coupons. The plan was to meet to eat at 12:00 PM and Bowl at 1:00 PM but no one appeared very interested in eating at Crestview.

The Towe Museum tree decoration party will be Sunday, November 29th. We don’t know if Robert Holland has a tree for us to decorate so the plan is to at least show up with a Pot Luck dish. The Club is expected to bring a Raffle Prize. Tree Decorating at 2:00 PM and Pot Luck will be at 4:00 PM. Keith will get additional information.

BIG CHANGE TO OUR ANNUAL MEETING AND CHRISTMAS PARTY PLANS!! The Station somehow lost our reservation for Dec. 12 and scheduled another large party. Our options were Dec. 5th or Dec. 19th. and dinner prices ranged from $23.00 to $32.00 each plus tax and 18% service charge, so after much discussion, it was decided that we won’t go to The Station at all. Instead, we will be going to the Sizzler at 8531 Bond Road in Elk Grove. We will not have a private space but the prices are more reasonable — off the menu — so you can have specifically what you want. (See Upcoming Events.) We will try our traditional gift game so each person bring an inexpensive ($15-$20), wrapped gift for exchange.

Our January 2010 General Membership Meeting will be held at Mel’s Diner. (See Inset to left.)

Ballots were received and counted for 2010 Officers. The pickings were pretty lean but Keith Thorson was reelected as President; Ted Bechtel, Vice President; Irene Raff as Secretary; J.O. Raff as Treasurer and Robert Holland received two write-in votes as Activities Director.

Frank Brown moved that the meeting be adjourned and Dennis Trimble seconded at 8:00 PM.

Club Meetings will be held at Coco's Restaurant, 1830 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of each month. Anyone with an interest in the Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am, Formula or Firehawk is welcome to attend.
